Shit completely hit the fan in the last omnibus of the All New X-Men, where past, present and future were having a battle royale for the actual fate of the future. Nonetheless, nobody knew who were the actual good guys, and nobody seemed to know what this battle might unchain, and truth be told, nobody properly cared, as it was all about life and death. We were eager to see how this battle would continue in this fairly conclusive album of this story arc.

Just like in the previous issue, it’s hard to properly describe the story, but we’ll give it a whirl anyway. The past and present mutants discovered that the visitors from the future are in fact not the actual future X-Men, but they are the Brotherhood, hoping to stir up enough trouble in our present, to convert the past and present X-Men into joining their cause, namely one where they rebel against the humans. Of course, this plan is discovered when the actual X-Men from the future arrive, and they help smoothen things out. Nonetheless, some feel rightfully that the Brotherhood isn’t all that wrong, as humans will always stay afraid of their mutant counterparts. From here on out, it’s all a battle for survival.

Jason Aaron and Brian Michael Bendis do a formidable job in creating this story together and they put a hefty amount of work into making this something very exciting. The flow feels perfect for a battle filled arc such as this, even though at certain times a bit of extra information would do wonders. Nonetheless, those hoping for a grand battle will not be disappointed.

The illustrations remain pretty much the same, as they are quite realistic, with enough fantasy touches to make some characters convincible. Again this bundle feels a bit crowded, which makes the drawings truly amazing as they are filled with details, a plethora of characters and a grand mixture of different colors and skin tones, all in one beautiful whole.

Conclusion

All New X-Men #008 brings an end to the battle of the X-Men of the past, present and future, as well as the Brotherhood. New information is given, new unions are being forged and above all, the future will never be the same again as everyone is slowly starting to see too much of what will happen in the future. All of this combined make for a great end to the current arc, as well as a proper interlude to the new arc.
