Explore a wondrous world in Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey

Today, KOEI TECMO Europe announced the release of the 18th and latest entry of their long running Atelier series, Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey. The game will be available on the 10th of March 2017 for the PlayStation 4 and will also be released digitally for the PlayStation Vita and PC(Steam)

In this new chapter of the Atelier series, you’ll be playing as Firis Mistlud, who’ve spend most of her life in an isolated village and learns of the Alchemy Exam. Eventually she decides to set off and discover the mysteries that life has to offer. The game will have all kinds of improvements and gameplay elements such as:

  • A vast new world filled with towns, environments and other locations that reach up to ten times the size of those of the previous entry, Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book
  • The element of choice plays a bigger role as players can choose between three narrative paths that focus on the series’ key themes, divided in combat, alchemy and character relationships
  • A more nomadic approach
  • The Atelier Tent – the series’ first mobile atelier where Firis can synthesise wherever there is a campfire
  • Mass Synthesis allows Firis to create large items to overcome obstacles in her path, such as a bridge to cross a river, or a boat to cruise across a lake. Every player decision on what to build will not only change the appearance and accessibility of various locations, but can also affect the course of the story

Being over 30 years old, I've been playing videogames since I've exchanged my pacifier for a game controller. I've only recently started reviewing games and it's incredibly fun to do and educational as I get to know a lot of new stuff about videogames and the industry. My favourite game genres are RPG's(strategy RPG, J-RPG,...), adventure, platforming, simulation and retro.
