Final Fantasy XIV Online reveals upcoming patch and marks new milestone

As if we needed any more proof that the Final Fantasy franchise is doing better than ever: Final Fantasy XIV Online can now boast over 18 million registered accounts. That’s a whole lot of players, and Square Enix is hoping to lure in even more with an upcoming patch to the Shadowbringers DLC. The patch, titled “Echoes of a Fallen Star” will add a decent amount of new content, including the continuation of the main quest introduced in this DLC. We can also expect some side quests, chapter 2 of the Eden-raid and a new dungeon to tackle alone or with friends. And for those who just can’t get enough and want some Final Fantasy in real life, there’s good news too. The official Shadowbringers art book is set to release in May 2020 with over 100 pages of original artwork and there will soon be announcement of Fan Festivals happening in the coming year, including in Europe.

Last but certainly not least, starting now and lasting until January 14 players who do not have an active subscription can enjoy up to 120 hours of free game time spread over five consecutive days. Check out the official site for my information on that.
