Hearthstone – lots of updates incoming!
Good news for Hearthstone players! Hearthstone is going to get large-scale changes thanks to the start of the Year of the Gryphon.
The first new expansion called Forged in the Barrens is inspired by the setting of the famous World of Warcraft. In this expansion, there will be 135 new cards inspired by the characters and stories that all WoW players know and love. Forged in the Barrens will also introduce 10 Legendary Mercenary Minions who each represent a different Hearthstone class.
If this seems interesting to you then you might want to prepurchase the Forged in the Barrens Mega Bundle which comes with 85 card packs, 5 of which are golden card packs, and two random Golden Legendary cards. It also comes with perks for the Hearthstone Battlegrounds that will last until the next expansion. There is also the Forged in the Barrens Pre-Purchase Bundle which is a bit cheaper and contains 60 packs from the expansion and two random legendary cards. Both of the bundles are available now for preorder.
At the same time as the start of the Year of the Gryphon, there will also be a launch of the new Hearthstone Core Set which will be free for all players to unlock. The core set replaces the existing Basic and Classic cards and is meant to keep Hearthstone fresh. The Core set will have 160 class cards and 75 neutral cards.
Later this year there will also be an all-new single-player competitive mode appearing called Hearthstone Mercenaries. Players will be invited to assemble and upgrade teams from Azeroth’s mightiest heroes and villains.
