Legends of Fire & Steel on Kickstarter

Legends of Fire & Steel is turn-based single and multiplayer fantasy world conquest game, with a mixture of boardgame and cardgame mechanics. The developers, Boomzap, have taken inspiration from old school strategy games such as Civilization, Crusader Kings 2 and even Heroes of Might and Magic and combined the strategic gameplay with simpler controls of games such as Risk, Lux and FTL.

The game is a classic territory capture game, set in a fantasy world comprised of three races: Humans, Fae and Revenants. Players can create armies led by heroes and use them to capture territories to acquire resources and build even more new units and heroes. The heroes can be upgraded to make them even more powerful, and new heroes can be unlocked by using your hard-won resources you’ve acquired by capturing your opponents castles.

Legends of Fire & Steel has plenty of features other than offering simpler, intuitive controls. For instance, the game offers a wide range of heroes to choose from, each hero having their own set of tactical powers and abilities. The single player campaigns allow the player to follow the war of races across the lands, unlocking new maps and heroes while discovering new lands. The turn-based multiplayer game offers Ranked and Casual Play leaderboards as well as other rankings and a “friend finder” feature. Furthermore, you can collect hero cards which allows you to unlock new heroes so you may expand your ever-growing hero selection.

The game is currently looking for funding on Kickstarter. If you do decide to back up the project, you’ll be getting free early access to the game or even beta access. Either way, you should read up on it as the game looks incredible so far.
