Primal Carnage: Extinction’s “Survival Update” is coming this week

Primal Carnage: Extinction, the online multiplayer shooter featuring human vs dinosaurs skirmishes is unleashing the first major content update upon players this week. The patch dubbed as the “Survival Update” will offer new co-op and single player options, ultimately expanding the primal carnage experience.

New CO-OP gameplay

Up until now, Primal Carnage: Extinction has been a pure PvP experience. The “Survival Update” should change this by offering players a new co-op experience in which human players must fend off endless waves of challenging AI dinosaurs on an all-new map, namely the Visitor Center.

For each kill, players are rewarded with currency which they can use to buy power-ups, weapon upgrades and supplies before the next wave hits them. This new mode can be played solo or with up to five players in an online co-op skirmish.

New playable dinosaur

At last, the long-awaited Acrocanthosaurus is joining the ranks of the Tyrant class of dinosaurs. While smaller in size and less sturdy than the Spino and Rex, its speed, health-regenerating roar and knockback-dealing stomp will make it just as deadly as its counterparts of the Tyrant class.

Human teams sheer at new weapons

The human classes will be getting a few new weapons to face the deadly and much larger enemies.

  • Tranq rifle – If a scoped bolt-action rifle is not up your alley, you may want to consider this powerful mid-range tranq rifle which can incapicate the sturdiest of dinosaurs.
  • Sensor mine – Mark nearby dinosaurs for your team as a Scientist with the new throwable sensor mines.
  • Frag grenades – These are military-grade fragmentation grenades for the Commando.
  • Hatchet – If flares are not doing the job for the Pathfinder, maybe throwable hatches will.

Even more skins and cosmetics

The “Survival Update” also comes with more items to collect and customize their characters with. The update will bring three new item crates, along with more than fifty weapon skins, character skins and other accessories. If you want to make your presence more known, the store will also offer name tags and description tags.

Console ports coming soon™

It has been quiet for a while about whether or not Primal Carnage: Extinction is coming to consoles but according to Circle 5 Studios, the development of the console port has been going great and the game should be released on other platforms before the end of the year.

Of course, the developers will not stop with the “Survival Update” or a console port. They plan to update the game regularly to expand the carnage experience even more. More objective-oriented game modes are currently being developed as well as an asymmetric game mode in which it is one extremely powerful dinosaur against a strong team of mercenaries. More content will come in the form of user-generated content as well as weapons, maps, items and dinosaurs – weren’t they extinct?
