Ratchet and Clank The Movie coming to theaters

Video Game movies don’t have the best track record, whether its the awful awful job perpetrated by Uwe Boll or the bizarre nature of the Resident Evil movies having very little to do with the actual Resident Evil franchise. (though the same could be said for Resident Evil 6)

Next up to bat to try and create an actual good movie adaption of a video game franchise is Ratchet and Clank, don’t worry its a CG movie they aren’t going to make this a terrible live action one.

Luckily for those of us who enjoy the Ratchet and Clank franchise the announcement trailer for the upcoming movie hits all the right notes. The humor is going to continue with the same lovable appeal that the games have thanks in no small part to TJ Hixman who is writing the movie’s script as he’s also the senior writer at Insomniac games the franchises developer.

We’ll have to wait a while to see how the movie turns out as it’s not slated to release until 2015, all the voice actors from the games will be reprising their roles in the movies so we don’t have to worry about a new voice coming out of an old friends mouth.

Have a read of the plot outline for the upcoming movie after watching the announcement trailer.

“Ratchet and Clank tells the story of two unlikely heroes as they struggle to stop a vile alien named Chairman Drek from destroying every planet in the Solana Galaxy. Ratchet is the last of his kind – a foolhardy ‘lombax’ who has grown up alone on a backwater planet with no family of his own. Clank is a pint-sized robot with more brains than brawn. When the two stumble upon a dangerous weapon capable of destroying entire planets, they must join forces with a team of colorful heroes called The Galactic Rangers in order to save the galaxy. Along the way they’ll learn about heroism, friendship, and the importance of discovering one’s own identity.”
