The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes is the next horror game from Supermassive Games. This game will be released on October 22, 2021 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC and is available for pre-order now. House of Ashes is developed by Supermassive Games and will be published by BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment.
In the shadow of the Zagros Mountains, a US military unit comes under fire from Iraqi forces. The ensuing firefight triggers an earthquake in which both sides fall into the ruins of a buried Sumerian temple. With all communication broken, our protagonists are trapped and must find a way to escape – without realizing that something ancient and evil has awakened in the darkness and is hungry for blood. In this terrifying underworld, you have to ask yourself who your real enemy is. The monsters hiding in the shadows or the other humans trapped with you? Will you put aside your rivalry to face a common enemy? Difficult decisions will have to be made… and the consequences can be deadly.
House of Ashes is a standalone title that won’t require knowledge of the other games in the ‘Dark Pictures Anthology’-collection. The story of House of Ashes takes place towards the end of the Iraq War, when Special Forces hunting for weapons of mass destruction accidentally unearth a monstrous force.
The Dark Pictures Anthology is a series of cinematic horror games designed to present a new terrifying experience on a regular basis. Each game is separate and features a brand new story, new setting and new cast of characters. Players need to make decisions in order to save their friends and companions, and each decision will have a meaningful impact on how the story develops. Experience thrilling moments and terror alone in single player mode, with your friends via the online shared two-player story, or with up to five players in couch-friendly movie night mode.
Pay close attention to this new trailer; around the 01:25 mark a small piece of paper with a website address written on it will be visible. This website gives virtual access to a computer belonging to a member of the US military from the game. There are lots of files to read through, revealing various images and lots of lore about House of Ashes!
