The Suicide Squad’s next mission? Take over your streaming services!

Warner Bros Home Entertainment has announced that James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, the latest entry in the DC Cinematic Universe, is headed to streaming services next week. Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, and Joel Kinnaman return to their roles and are joined by a star-studded cast featuring Idris Elba, John Cena, and Sylvester Stallone. This soft reboot is only loosely connected to David Ayer’s 2016 Suicide Squad film, so you won’t have to have seen that in order to follow the story of Task Force X’s latest outing.

In The Suicide Squad, the sinister Amanda Waller sends Task Force X, also known as the Suicide Squad, on a deadly mission to the island of Corto Maltese. The US government can’t count on heroes to save the day in this case, because the missions Task Force X has to undertake typically involve doing things that are questionable at best. So who better to rely on than supervillains instead? The idea is simple: members that successfully complete their mission get ten years shaved off of their sentence. If they fail, they die. Will Bloodsport (Elba), Peacemaker (Cena), Harley Quinn (Robbie), King Shark (Stallone), and their comrades-in-arms survive their most dangerous mission yet? You’ll have to check out The Suicide Squad to find out. The Suicide Squad will be available on several streaming services from September 13th, including Apple TV, Google Play, YouTube, Microsoft Xbox, and Rakuten TV, among others.
