Wildstar (FTP Beta) – Preview
It has been a while since the MMORPG Wildstar has been released. NCSOFT have received loads of information since then and they are changing lots of things. Even more, the game will be free to play soon, so you can enjoy the new additions. As there are only changes to the gameplay, we will only cover this section. First of all, lets kick off with the improved character creation screen. When you make a new toon, you can choose the race from a upgraded screen, giving a better overview of the several possibilities. The developers also put in the option to skip the tutorial if you’re a veteran, so you can start right away.
When you make a new character (and if you’ve played Wildstar before), you’ll notice quite some changes. For example, you don’t need to press buttons to go into sprint mode. You will now automatically start running when you’re not chased or detected by enemies. If you don’t like this modification, you can always alter this setting to your liking. Next to this change, there have also been tweaks in the stats and AMP of every class so everything is more balanced. The creature difficulty has been altered as well, giving you a smoother impression in the early zones and the achievement requirements that pop up now and then have gotten an update as well.
NCSOFT also thought about making things easier for you. For example, there is a ‘sell all junk’ button which disposes all of your trash at once and dumps it into the hands of the vendor. Another big improvement is the addition of ‘Rapid Transport’. You can spend some gold to transport you to certain key points on the map. The third addition is the ‘Content Finder’ in which you can queue for instances and PVP matches but also quest episodes for your level. Next to that, you also get a Revolutionary Rucksack that contains items to help you on your journey.
The dungeons and raids have gotten an update as well. Overall, this setting is more accessible for new players and the auto-attack damage has been reduced. Some of the dungeons got another level requirements as well, while you will receive experience and loot during your run instead of waiting after the clearance.
Next to all these changes, there are some additions that surpass gameplay. For example, you can buy items with NCoins or Omnibit in the in-game store. NCoins can be bought with real currency, while the Omnibit are gained during your adventures. Logging on has its benefits as well, as there is a Daily Login Calendar. Certain days have amazing gifts, like special mounts and pets. If you like to gamble, you can also buy Fortune Coins and let Madame Fay use it. This will give you loads of great goodies, like Fabkits and mounts. Buying items in the in-game shop will give you Cosmic Rewards points which gives you the chance to get goods as well. At least you can’t say you’re not being spoiled.
Overall, there are loads of changes as we didn’t discuss every addition. Some of the alterations aren’t that noticeable, while others really improve the gameplay a lot. For example, the sprint change is something really handy and if you’re new to the genre, you will receive enough information from the start, to make things that much more easy.
Conclusion
Wildstar will become free to play soon and they want to do loads of changes and additions to give you the best gameplay. If you have tried this game before but found it quite confusing, it might be a good idea to check it out again. Loads of things have changed, especially for new players. For the veteran Wildstar gamers, you’ll notice that the raids and dungeons have been altered, as well as some other in-game additions like NCoins and Madame Fay’s fortune reading.
