In the midst of our very damp and wet summer, we had the chance to try out Sennheiser’s amazing CX True Wireless earbuds. While the price was dipping into the premium price range, the wireless earbuds offered such a great experience that the price was more than justified. We enjoyed the features it presented us with, namely the user comfort, the battery lifespan, and most importantly, the sound quality. Now, Sennheiser has released the CX Plus True Wireless, which is basically the upgraded version of a device that was already superb. Courtesy of Sennheiser, we were allowed to give this new model a spin. We were quite impressed. We will mainly be discussing the overall quality and the new features. Those looking for in-depth reviews of the Sennheiser range of wireless earbuds can click here for our CX 400BT True Wireless review, or here for our Sennheiser CX True Wireless review.

Truth be told, there isn’t that much we can cover that we have not said in our previous review(s). We once again see minuscule changes to the overall design, but other than that not much has changed to the overall classy design of this new Sennheiser product. You’ll clearly see that this is a premium device, and the black model we were given is suitable for every outfit or occasion. Those looking to spice things up will be happy to hear that there is also a white variant, which looks equally as classy. These earbuds do not come with any visible buttons, as they are controlled by tapping the touch screen-like surface of the earpieces. This makes sure you’ll have a smooth design, rather than have components sticking out.

Like the original CX True Wireless, the Plus version also makes sure water cannot easily soak into the device when running in the rain, or even accidentally dropping the earpieces in a bit of water. Of course, you’re still not supposed to submerge these earbuds, but at least they can take a proper punch. This, in combination with the long battery lifespan, makes this a solid piece of hardware, all crammed into a very small package. The case itself also allows you to recharge your earbuds on the go, at least if you’ve also charged the case.

This new Sennheiser device tries to distinguish itself with its Active Noise Cancellation and Transparent Hearing functions, which allow you to either block out the surrounding sound or allow it to blend in when it is needed. If you’re watching your favorite shows, or even have a business call to make, you’ll want to enjoy the best sound quality possible. If you’re going for a run, you’d probably want to opt for the Transparant Hearing option, which allows you to take in more of the environmental noises, making sure you are aware of your surroundings.

Slowly but surely, Sennheiser is improving their Smart Control app, which shows that they care about user comfort. During our first reviews, we noted that the app was a bit wonky and slow, but it seems that updates are gradually being released, which is certainly a plus. We are still not completely convinced about the app, but it seems we might have to change our opinion in a few more updates.

Conclusion

Just like the previous earbuds we were allowed to try out, the CX Plus True Wireless did not disappoint at all. We were able to enjoy outstanding audio quality during our commutes, our relaxation moments, or even for business meetings. The microphones picked up our voice perfectly, and the sound on the receiving end was very clear. The device itself also allows you to zone out properly thanks to its noise cancellation, but you can always turn this off if you also want to mind your surroundings properly as well. As a whole, the CX Plus True Wireless is a very versatile device and an absolute delight to work with.
