Together: Amna & Saif – Preview
Together: Amna & Saif is an indie game developed by Mount Olympus Games which is purely a local multiplayer. Cooperate with a friend and find the cure that your loved one needs.
In Together: Amna & Saif, you and a friend play as a mother and her son in search for a cure to heal a fallen loved one. They both have to travel through a magical forest facing all kinds of challenges along the way as soon as possible before it is too late.
The game is designed to be played with a friend along side of you, not online but through local co-operation. It is possible to play alone, but since that is not the purpose of the game, it is best to be played together with a partner. The challenges grow more difficult the further you progress through the game, so playing alone will prove to be a far too difficult challenge, unless you’re up for it.
You’ll see that the developers have put in a lot of effort to make the game as enjoyable as it can, by offering you enough kinds of challenges and new mechanics the further you progress. The music is relaxing and the art style of the game is simply beautiful. Sadly the enemies that you might encounter aren’t fully animated, and are simple sprites that move.
In a lot of the puzzles, you’ll need to collect all the fairies that are on the map, without letting them be eaten by monsters. If you let even one die, you’ll have to redo that one puzzle from the start. Luckily most of the puzzles are rather short, so it won’t be too much of a bother to redo. In some challenges you’ll need to be fast enough, while in others you’ll have to make sure that both your characters don’t die. If one would be attacked by an enemy, you’ll still have the ability to revive them by simple running to them, letting them stand up. Sometimes it is necessary to sacrifice a partner before clearing the puzzle, but in the end both of you will still need to be alive.
In some puzzles, treasure chest are present which will give you optional, harder challenges if you open them.
At the moment, the game offers you around 40 minutes of gameplay, which might not seem enough but since there is replay value, you’ll have your fair share of enjoyment. Controllers are also supported, if you are not using a controller, you’ll both have to play with one keyboard.
Conclusion
As this is still a game in progress, lots of things might change. Hopefully there will be an online option available, which might be an easier way to play with your friends. Aside from the small lack of enemy animations, the game looks beautiful and sounds echanting. The game is challenging enough and playing with your friends will definitely be lots of fun.
