The Quiet Girl wins first place with the UFK
The UFK (‘Belgische Unie van de Filmkritiek’ or ‘Belgian Union of Filmcriticism’) picks out a few of their favorite indie productions each year to highlight for their artistic mastery. At the end of 2023, The Quiet Girl was awarded first place in their books. This debut from director Colm Bairéad is a soft and tender drama about a young girl who has to live with distant relatives after her parents die. The movie follows her slowly opening up after the traumatic event and dealing with the changes in her life. The Quiet Girl is available now thanks to Cinéart on DVD and video-on-demand.
