Carbine finally puts a price on their new MMO Wildstar!
Today Carbine Studios and NC soft finally revealed the business model for their new MMO Wildstar, A system they call C.R.E.D.D., alongside this the game will also support a standard subscription model.
So what is C.R.E.D.D.? It’s a commodity you buy from the official Wildstar website, and are then able to sell via a sort of in-game stock market called the Commodities Exchange, or CX for short. On this CX other players can then buy your C.R.E.D.D. with the gold they earned in game, how much gold will completely depends on the economy of your server. The idea behind C.R.E.D.D. is that it’s a way for people who don’t mind paying for a subscription but don’t have the time to farm a ton themselves to earn some extra gold, and for players who have plenty of time but don’t want or have the money to spend to keep playing without having to spend any actual money, apart from the initial game purchase that is which will cost you $59.99, €44.99 or £34.99 depending on where you live.
Now as for how much actual money this is all going cost you: a subscription will run you a minimum of $14.99, €12.99 or £8.99 for a one month subscription. This goes down if you get a three, six or twelve month sub, the cheapest being the twelve months of course at $10.99, €9.99 or £6.99. Then there’s of course C.R.E.D.D., one of which will cost you $19.99, €16.99 or £11.99 and one C.R.E.D.D. will pay for one months of game time.
Wether this business will be a success for Carbine only time will tell. What they’ve shown of Wildstar so far looked really promising, so let’s all hope it is succesful and we don’t see another great MMO get lost without the attention it deserves.
