Big, bigger, biggest! Good, better, best! Every year conventions strive to at least be labeled with one of the aforementioned comparatives or to be synonymous with the superlative. Made in Asia is a convention that started five years ago, even back then it was already labeled as “good”. With the 5th edition this year’s Made in Asia has to not only trump the competition but also itself. As a self-proclaimed asia-phile, Made in Asia is a must-go venue for me. So how did it go? Well let me try to give you a glimpse of how I saw it, with the following pictures:

This year’s Made in Asia was situated in the biggest hall of brussels expo.

Although the venue has increased in size, there were still moments when it seemed overcrowded. Another testament of the growth and rise in popularity that Made in Asia underwent.

Visitors could rest in this idyllic garden. A necessary place if one was to complete the journey that is Made in Asia.

Even the Marioes put their A-game on. While I certainly don’t think this outfit is suited for stepping on turtles and jumping over lava, I still think that it is more than enough to make any enemy surrender.

Like every year, martial arts clubs were part of the fun! Visitors could enjoy the demonstrations or participate to learn a few (life-saving) moves.

Even the “side” streets seemed to have been bigger during this years made in asia.

Made in Asia’s cosplayers surely have stepped up. This soifon cosplay is by far one of the best I have ever seen. According to the cosplayer she made it all by herself! She’s got all my respect.

Yeah fellow ninja Kasumi of the dead or alive franchise was also present. Might I say that she looked as sharp as ever (sharp is a good thing in the ninja-world).

In the end I seeked out people I am most comfortable with: Yu-gi-oh! fans. Keep up the good work girls and hopefully see you next year!
Overall Made in Asia has proven that not all things asian are small and that not everything made in Taiwan is cheap. The 5th edition proved to be the biggest and best of any Made in Asia that has ever been (at least in my opinion). The broader passages made it more comfortable to walk around and the cosplayers have stepped up their game. Only questions that remain: how will they top this next year and what did you think of it?
