It’s only been a few months since we tried out AVM’s FRITZ!Repeater 3000 and we already find ourselves lucky enough to try out the new and updated FRITZ!Repeater 6000. As always, this review will be somewhat similar to the review we did before this one, as AVM always offers quality products and the brand also tries to build upon the foundation of their earlier devices. This is also the case for the FRITZ!Repeater 6000, which supports the latest technology and offers a great user experience. We once again want to mention that AVM products work best with other AVM products, but this is still a powerhouse for those looking to add a premium quality device to their internet setup.

After unpacking the neat-looking device that was offered to us by AVM, we could simply go through the no-hassle setup. We found ourselves simply having to plug in the device and press the WPS button while pairing it to our FRITZ!Box 7530 AX. This step only took a minute or two, and we basically had to do nothing else to start using the extra access point. If you own a device such as a FRITZ!Box 7530 AX, you will be able to use the mesh capabilities to the fullest, and thus you’ll create one big access zone, rather than a simple access point. AVM products always work great together, and it’s no exception in this scenario. If you wish to pair the new FRITZ!Repeater 6000 with a device from another brand you can also do so via the WPS button.

You’ll probably hate us by now for stating the obvious, but we’ll do it once again for good measure. The FRITZ!Repeater 6000 is a great device and it actually matches the speed of a premium-priced router such as the FRITZ!Box 7530 AX with minimal loss of download and upload speeds. Of course, you’ll have to take into account how big the area is you wish to cover and how good your actual internet subscription is. A repeater such as this will never go faster than your actual internet subscription’s download and upload speeds, so don’t buy a device such as this hoping you’d cheat the system and get rewarded with a faster download speed. If you have a basic subscription and you are content with it, we suggest looking at a few cheaper AVM devices or other repeaters in case you own a router by a different brand than AVM.

Conclusion

AVM’s FRITZ!Repeater 6000 is a great addition to your internet setup, but it is also a premium-priced device that works best with AVM’s other premium-quality devices. The latter is simply because to reach the repeater’s full potential you’ll need to have a hefty router supporting it, as well as have a great internet subscription. These two components are needed to create a great mesh-capable home network to guarantee smooth sailing with everything you wish to do on the internet, be it gaming, watching your favorite shows on Netflix, or simply to video-call your friends and family. If you’re looking for a proper powerhouse for your setup, we recommend checking out the FRITZ!Repeater 6000.
