Borderlands Devs announce Battleborn
2K and Gearbox Software announce the Next-gen IP Battleborn that is currently in development by the creators of the best-selling franchise Borderlands. Battleborn is set to release in 2016 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
Battleborn is named after the heroes that are called the battleborn who are teaming up to face the Varelsi. The Varelsi are seeking to destroy the last star in a dying universe and with that I don’t have to tell you that Battleborn is set in the future of a fictional universe. As Battleborn is a new AAA shooter, it thrives on co-op and competitive gameplay. In co-op you will be able to play with up to four friends in the cooperative campaign. If a cooperative campaign is nothing for you, you can always battle it out in various competitive multiplayer games with up to nine other players.
As Borderlands 2 was a successful fusion of genres and elements, the goal is to achieve the same with Battleborn, only differently. “If Borderlands 2 is a shooter-looter, than Battleborn is a hero-shooter”, Randy Pitchford, the President of Gearbox Software, explains. Pitchford further describes Battleborn as a “genre-fused, hobby-grade, co-operative and competitive FPS exploding with eye-popping style and an imaginative universe.”
According to Gearbox Software, Battleborn will be the first first-person shooter that has this much character variety and the announcement trailer shows the first batch of heroes. So far we can clearly see a hunter, wizard, warrior and even a mechanical steampunk-looking rifleman.
