Build your dream homestead in Guild Wars 2’s new expansion
ArenaNet has released Janthir Wilds, the fifth expansion for Guild Wars 2. This expansion introduces housing to the game, allowing players to create and decorate their own homestead with the help of new creative tools. This feature aligns with the game’s focus on horizontal progression and adds depth to the subscription-free online world of Guild Wars 2.
Key features of the expansion include:
- Homesteads: Players receive a plot of land and a customizable housing space, with over 300 decoration items available at launch. The homestead includes a mount stable, space for alternate characters, and improved resource gathering options, offering new ways to express personal identity in the game.
- Kodan Spear Mastery: All character professions gain access to a new weapon type, the spear, along with new combat skills. This weapon, taught by the Lowland Kodan, expands gameplay possibilities and builds.
- Warclaw Mount Update: The Warclaw mount, previously used in World-vs.-World modes, now has a new mastery track for open-world exploration. The updated mount can avoid fall damage, leap multiple times, sniff out treasure, and engage in combat.
- New World Boss Event: Massive entities known as titans have arrived on Janthir’s shores, challenging large groups of players in epic battles.
- New Convergences: A 50-player instanced mode featuring encounters with elemental-infused titans will arrive in the first post-launch content update.
ArenaNet plans to release additional content for Janthir Wilds at no extra cost, including a new legendary spear, backpack, additional maps, and a new raid. The story of Janthir Wilds continues from the events of the 2023 expansion Secrets of the Obscure, with players embarking on a diplomatic mission to the lands of the Lowland Kodan. Janthir Wilds is available for purchase on Steam and through the official Guild Wars 2 website for $24.99. Buyers will gain immediate access to two new maps: Lowland Shore and Janthir Syntri.
