As we’re nearing Dead by Daylight’s tenth anniversary, we have already featured quite a few release articles on the site concerning console ports or DLC releases, but we have actually only covered one DLC in the past, namely the Resident Evil Chapter. Sadly, our backlog sometimes gets in the way, but we’re aiming to make up for that today by taking a closer look at the Sinister Grace DLC. With this new content revolving around Thai folklore, things promised to get very interesting.

Even though Dead by Daylight is well known for its collaborations with famous franchises, the Sinister Grace DLC feels like it’s going back to basics as it is rooted in Thai mythos rather than drawn from a well-known IP. In this new DLC, you’ll be treated to a new killer and a new survivor. The Krasue is the killer here, and Vee Boonyasak is the survivor. Both of these characters have something to do with music, as The Krasue is a cursed opera singer while Vee is just trying to make a name for herself as the drummer of a punk rock band. The overall idea behind this is quite interesting, original, and actually rather refreshing, as it avoids the familiar horror tropes that are often thrown in for good measure.

The Krasue is an interesting new addition to the roster of killers, and she comes with a cool new mechanic here, as she has two different forms. Her base form follows a more traditional format, where she has a ranged attack and all the other basic abilities of most killers, but she can also swap to her ‘Head’ form. In this form, the Krasue will detach her head from her main body and can fly around the map faster as a result. She is then still able to attack and can actually vault over dropped pallets. There are quite a few players now concerned with balancing, but this seems to be a common trend with new killers anyway, and we expect this to sort itself out.

Vee Boonyasak is the new survivor who comes not only with a few snazzy outfits, but also some cool new perks to add to the pool of already available ones. These new perks are Road Life, Ghost Notes, and ONE-TWO-THREE-FOUR!. Road Life can help you while injured and getting regular, great skill checks, as you’ll save up tokens that can increase your healing speed. Ghost Notes helps the survivor while exhausted by improving recovery speed and removing their scratch marks a lot quicker. Last but not least, ONE-TWO-THREE-FOUR! makes you put on a performance that increases skill checks for nearby survivors. All in all, these perks supplement different builds quite well and allow for even more character customization options.

Conclusion

Dead by Daylight – Sinister Grace is an interesting new DLC that adds something original to the mix that’s not a collaboration with another IP. All in all, both the killer and survivor were cool new additions to the already impressive roster Dead by Daylight has on offer. Some comments on balancing aside, Sinister Grace is a blast for long-time players, and thanks to these continued DLC releases, the game remains as popular as ever. We are already looking forward to the next content update.
