Nuka-World, the big DLC we’ve all been waiting for after getting our hands dirty on the workshop DLC and the great stories from Automatron and Far Harbor. Sadly, now it’s time to wrap things up as Nuka-World is said to be the last Fallout 4 DLC. We know Bethesda always tries to go out with a bang, this time they decided to go out with a pop!

When Nuka-World was announced it stirred up a lot of commotion. This because it was said to be the biggest DLC for Fallout 4 yet as Bethesda claimed that it was a bit smaller than their largest DLC ever (for The Elder Scrolls franchise) but bigger than any other Fallout DLC. Knowing this every fan and player eagerly awaited its release this September.

When you boot up the game and are level 30 or above, you get a notification telling you about a new radio station being received. When tuned in, a commercial plays about coming to Nuka-World and you will be directed to the Nuka-World transit center. Upon your arrival, an unlucky group of gunners are found, wanting to enter the center. The protagonist battles with these ‘soldiers’ and cleans up their presence, restoring things to a seemingly peaceful state. After entering you stumble upon Harvey, a wounded guy who wants you to save his wife and kid. By taking the train you then enter the huge Nuka-World. As you might expect this isn’t vacation, even worse: to enter you must survive the Gauntlet. The Gauntlet is a trail in various disciplines: combat, smarts and agility. After surviving all that, no rest is given: first you need to win a rigged boss battle. This is where you take out the original overlord with the help of a raider. Now you have become the new overlord of Nuka-World and the DLC can finally fully begin.

Fallout 4 Nuka World 1

Being a newbie isn’t easy, yes you might have shown your wits in battle, but the gangs in Nuka-World are all on the edge. This is because not all areas are safe, and because the bad conditions the park has fell in you will have a ton of work before all things will fall into place. Meet up with the three leaders of the Disciples, Operators and The Pack. Gain their trust and take over the park. The park itself is divided into six main areas: Kiddie Kingdom, World of Refreshment, Dry Rock Gultch, Safari Adventure, Nuka-Town USA and Galactic Zone. Wandering around slowly uncovers the whole story and background of Nuka-World. Gain control over new settlements and build the dream the raiders wanted, All of this opens the raider quest line. This is unique for every faction and will test your charisma or power of leadership. Because you need to help each faction and their own problems, this DLC will take a considerable amount of time to finish. As always, things are totally up to how you want to play the game, so if you’d rather murder everyone, go ahead. Sadly there won’t be anyone left to hand out quests anymore either.

Lucky for you many new items can be found in Nuka-World. Protect yourself with new weapons and expand your wardrobe even further. Of course you can also find and modify new sets of armor and feel like a food connoisseur while dining in the many restaurants. Also introduced in this DLC is Nuka mixing, which allows you to mix various Nuka Cola drinks to create a whole new soda: all with added benefits.

Conclusion

We will be staying up late playing this DLC, because of the huge increase in content and story. Bethesda took this one all out to give us fans a run for our money. The immersion into the story and background of Nuka-World are well presented with themed weapons and items. The new factions give a whole new take on raiders as we know them, ranging from low life scum to well trained and informed warmongers. A great conclusion to the series of Fallout 4 DLC, but secretly, we hope this won’t be the end for our Fallout 4 experience.
