It’s been a while since we last presented you with a hardware review about a gaming mouse, but don’t fret any longer! Today we are able to present you with the GAMDIAS HADES, which might look a bit like the CM Storm Recon, but might prove to be more than a look-a-like.

GAMDIAS is a fairly new brand in the hardware business, seeing they started their company in 2012. Though this does not mean they are to be underestimated. After taking a closer look through their catalogue it is clear they try their best to present you with good looking and practical pieces of hardware.

Once again we go off on appearances and the HADES model does its best to combine the shape of an old fashioned mouse in a great looking jacket. The mouse has a specific symmetric design to allow right handed as well as left handed player to enjoy this model. The GAMDIAS HADES has a total of eight buttons and most of them can be customized to your own personal needs.

The mouse wheel is lit up by a LED light that is able to change color for each of the profiles stored on the HADES. The logo on the back of the mouse is lit up as well, but only in the color that matches the brand itself.

Last but not least when talking about the design of the mouse, the HADES comes with six interchangeable side panels. Not only do these panels look great and give your mouse an extra ‘badass’ touch, they are also very practical. You will have three pairs of panels. This means you’ll have three different types of panels that either go on the left or right side of the mouse. It’s possible to change the ‘ergonomic’ design of the mouse to what you find the most comfortable. If you’d rather have a smooth surface for your thumb you go with the smallest one. If you want extra room for your pinky you can take a larger panel, and so on.

These panels are held in place by small magnets and these do their job well. You’ll never feel as if these panels feel out of place or weren’t incorporated in the base design. Whilst it is easy to change the larger panels for another one, the smallest panel out of the three different ones is fairly hard and annoying to change. It’s hard to reach and you might sometimes feel as if you’re going to break it. Other than that, options like these are a very large plus, not only for the overall design but also for the user’s comfort.

Unlike the recon’s maximum dpi range of 4000, the HADES offers you the change to pick dpi settings ranging from 400 up to 8200. This means this mouse is not only for casual gamers but also for those who want more settings as well as more specific profiles for those playing many different genres.

You’ll be able to store six different profiles on the GAMDIAS HADES, each having the option to have five specific dpi settings. This means, when having installed the official software, you’ll be able to have a total of 30 different dpi settings.

The software will offer you the chance to customize that much more than only the dpi settings. Editing the luminance of your mouse wheel as well as inserting macro’s are getting more and more standard nowadays but the other additions are not that common. The HADES is able to track how many clicks you’ve done with each button individually. There is also an inclusion of sound commands as well as certain timers, which are certainly handy for games that have certain respawn times. These options are all fairly simple to use, even for those who don’t have too much experience using ‘gaming mice’.

Own opinion

The HADES appeared to be a normal everyday mouse, with some additions thrown in to the mix. After testing it for quite some time it was easy to say that is a true gaming mouse with the fun feature that it’s a mouse that suits left and right handed gamers.

Working with the side panels was a fairly rare and pleasant experience. Not only because of the esthetic reasons but comfort wise as well. You’ll have to option to go for a fairly standard looking mouse or a mouse that suits the design you fancy. This will allow you to create more comfortable gaming situation.

The option of having loads of dpi profiles on the device also smoothes out the ability of being able to switch through different profiles easily when playing different styles of games. The practicality of the software is another great addition to truly start enjoying the usage of the HADES. The software will point itself out and you’ll be creating your dpi profiles in no time at all.

Not that many other brands support timers or the use of sound buttons, and being quite skeptical myself, there was a lot of doubt in me when it comes to the practicalities of using such options. Truth be told, when having the option and finding usage for it, in games that fall under the MOBA genre for example, you’ll surely see the use of these functions. Using them will turn out to a delight. Even though these options are provided by the software and not only by the mouse, the whole picture creates a fun gaming experience.

Conclusion

The GAMDIAS HADES may look a fairly standard gaming mouse with some badass add-ons, but it turns out to be so much more. The HADES model falls under the category of moderate priced mice and this might turn out to be a bargain when looking for a professional piece of hardware.
