Whilst Kinky & Cosy might sound like two of the local prostitutes, they will provide another kind of amusement, namely small gags. These two, rather unappealing children, will often find themselves in different kinds of predicaments or express their opinions about certain topical issues. It was time for us to sit back, relax and enjoy a subtle version of slapstick humor to calm our minds.

It’s quite hard to actually describe the story of the Kinky & Cosy series, as it does not really have a story. Most of the gags are placed in three panels, aiming for a very short but witty joke. Nonetheless, this second album had a decent amount of one page gags, as well as one mini story, providing a fun change of pace and this also shows that the different writers who work on the series, are capable of doing something more than their three paneled gags.

Overall the gags themselves are not as predictable as one might suspect. Some might have a fairly predictable outcome, but most are actually reasonably original and manage to make you grin most of the time. Whilst most jokes will not be the best ones you’ve ever seen/heard, the album certainly helps you to relax.

In this album you’ll often see several jokes follow each other, with the same theme in mind. This is actually a pleasant touch as you will have a certain topic in your head from the last joke and the comic then pursues that thought. It seems the collective of writers named NIX did a great job in creating a whole amidst the many different jokes.

Kinky&Cosy2-1

Truth be told, many people will probably not give the series a second chance after seeing the cover, with the two fairly unattractive main characters, Kinky & Cosy. Nonetheless, when you flip the last page of the issue, you will have grown accustomed to the duo, their families and their fellow townsmen, perhaps you’ll even like them towards the end. Again the animations have been handled by NIX and if we are completely honest, the illustrations match the humor perfectly.

One thing we were quite puzzled about is, even though the humor is clearly intended for a more adult audience, there are fairly simple children’s puzzles at the end of the album. Whilst they were still ‘amusing’ they felt kind of out of place, except for the sometimes subtle humor attempts that went hand in hand with them.

Conclusion

Kinky & Cosy #2 is an amusing album that will entertain you for half an hour and might help you relax after a busy day. The two stars of the series are not the smartest around, but they do have some charm, even with their rather unattractive appearance. If you’re into small gags that are sometimes rather kinky, you might want to get cozy and flip through the pages of this one.
