It may come as no surprise when we say that we absolutely love trying out gaming peripherals. Over the years, we have tried out many different keyboards, headsets, and mice that it’s even hard to keep track of which ones we’ve already had the pleasure of reviewing. Nonetheless, a flashy gaming setup only comes to life if you also own great gaming hardware. We are still quite inexperienced when it comes to reviewing internal hardware, but we still love to share good hardware solutions with our readers. In today’s review, we’ll be having a closer look at KIOXIA EXCERIA PLUS microSDXC UHS-I Card. For our review, we were given a 1TB model, and we were extremely happy with the overall performance, and it soon became our main storage solution for our Nintendo Switch.

In terms of design, there is not that much to state about KIOXIA’s microSDXC card. You’ll be treated to a solid black card, with the imprint and brand name clearly visible. Other than that, it shows the storage capacity and the type of card. Of course, it’s normal that items such as this come with hardly any bells and whistles. The model we were given was a 1TB model. This eventually translated to having around 921GB of usable storage space. To put this in perspective, this little card actually has more storage space than the storage of a PS5 console.

One of the most important components is, of course, how quickly you can transfer data on a card such as this. As we were going to use this card as a new storage solution for one of our Nintendo Switch consoles, we had to transfer a lot of game data. Throughout most of our tests, we reached a steady transfer speed of 82 MB/s, slightly under the maximum of 85 MB/s for this model. We didn’t really encounter any dips during our transfers, and before we knew it, we had an entire collection of Switch games ready to be played.

Conclusion

In all honesty, we could add a lot of graphs and pictures in the short review of KIOXIA’s EXCERIA PLUS microSDXC UHS-I Card, but they would simply paint the same picture as we did. In the end, we were treated to an affordable storage solution that achieved pretty much everything it stated on paper. We found this product a great solution for general data transfer or to serve as a ‘hard drive’ for our Switch console. For more information, you can always consult the official product page.
