Lil’ Guardsman gets a release date and a new trailer!
Indie game developer Hilltop Studios has revealed the launch date of their narrative-driven deduction adventure game, Lil’ Guardsman for PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. In this comical successor to classic 90’s point-and-click adventures, players will be tasked with deciding the fate of the kingdom. To celebrate the reveal, Hilltop Studios has also released a new trailer introducing players to Lil, a 12-year-old substitute guardsman, as she navigates the challenges of covering for her wayward father on the job.
Lil’ Guardsman is a narrative deduction game that draws inspiration from classic point-and-click titles like Grim Fandango and the gameplay mechanics of Papers, Please. Set in a high-fantasy world with the comedic sensibility of Monkey Island and other 90s Lucasarts adventure classics, the game places players in the role of a young girl covering for her dad as a castle gate guardsman. The game involves interrogating eccentric characters seeking entry to the city walls, and uncovering their true intentions through dialogue and a toolbox of investigative items. Players use tools like the cipher-cracking Decoder Ring, Truth Spray, and a trusty Bullwhip to make tough decisions and protect Lil’s castle and family from potential threats. Lil’ Guardsman is available from the 23rd of January.
