We should be ashamed of ourselves. We have already had loads of famous hardware brands featured on our site but so far we have never featured Logitech, one of the industry’s leading brands. This time we’re going to try and make it up to you by featuring one of their latest products, namely the MK295 Silent Wireless Combo. This product is not directed towards gamers per se but it might be nice if you’re sharing a room with someone who wants to relax without hearing you mashing keys.

Design

Upon opening the box you are greeted by three main components. Namely, a ‘nano’ transmitter that serves as the hub for the keyboard and the mouse. And these last two mentioned items are of course the rest of the package. Both peripherals look quite simple and are finished with a matte black coating, except for the mouse, which has a glossy and smoothened out ridge flowing around the body.

There are no distinct special features in terms of design. Everything is kept simple and classy making sure it would fit in any type of environment and/or design. Other than the standard features, this one has small visible shortcut keys that will allow you to access certain features on the fly. The mouse itself only has two buttons and a mouse wheel. This package has little whistles and bells.

Comfort

In terms of comfort features, there is not that much to say except for the basic silent features of the keyboard and the keys that are also very soft to the touch. You’ll notice from the start that this membrane keyboard feels very pleasant to work with. The keys have a soft matte coating, which is also designed to protect the letters on the actual keys. Our keyboard, however, already had one of the arrow symbols missing, which is not the best impression from the get-go.

The keyboard also allows you to change its inclination angle, thus allowing you to choose to elevate the back. It’s nothing to praise the lord about, but it is often forgotten in cheaper (combo) packages, and it does add another layer of comfort to this package.

The mouse is simple, doesn’t have any special features, but its curved design is quite nice to work with. Also, the tiny size is very pleasant for people that have smaller hands. We noticed the rear-end of the mouse feels a bit less pleasantly curved, but this is only a matter of getting used to.

Overview

The MK295 is a simple plug and play device after plugging in the nano transmitter. This tiny device will connect with the keyboard and mouse, if they are both turned on and have batteries inserted. After that, you’ll be good to go in mere seconds. The keyboard and mouse combo have all the basic functions you’d expect. There are a few extra shortcut keys that serve to regulate the volume, boot up your mailbox, use the calculator and so on. We do not understand the ‘power’ button right above the F8 key though. While this could be a convenient function somewhere a bit more remote, it is actually quite close to the F8 key, and thus can easily be pressed by accident, instantly shutting everything down. This is a little design flaw, and one we cannot easily do anything about as the combo does not come with any software to assign new functions to the keys.

Conclusion

For its price, Logitech’s MK295 Silent Wireless Combo is a very nice package to work with. We believe that this keyboard will not immediately adhere to the standards of hardcore gamers, it does have a lot of benefits for people who don’t like the ear-shattering sounds of certain mechanic keyboards, or those who want to work in a quiet environment. The package will make your experience typing and casually gaming very comfortable and there’s actually not much wrong to say about Logitech’s budget set. We still don’t understand that power button placement right above the F8 button though.
