We thoroughly enjoyed the first two episodes of Loki, much to the point we were waiting in suspense for the third episode to go live. We were already speculating on who the other ‘variant’ Loki would really be, what the plans for the next episodes were, and if Loki truly changed his ways. Sadly, in what will be a very short review of the third episode, we were very disappointed with both the flow of the episode, its content, its duration, and its horrible usage of CGI.

Loki (Tom Hiddleston) has gone through the gate together with the other variant, whose goal and identity are not fully known yet. She tells Loki she does not want to be referred to as ‘another Loki’, thus she calls herself Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino). The duo of tricksters soon finds themselves in a futuristic doomsday scenario, much like the ones that were discussed in the previous episode. Sadly, they will have to work together to survive and make it out alive. What soon follows is a drab of shallow and mediocre dialogues, all crammed onto shoddy backdrops where you can literally still see the outline of where the CGI meets the actors. It was almost like watching one of those 1950s movies, where they film a scene in the car, with the surroundings being played on a screen behind them. This all made this episode feel like a hollow husk compared to the first two of the season. Not only was the content already limited, Disney decided on making this episode ten minutes shorter than the previous one, while also keeping their ten minutes of neverending credits to every being on the planet intact.

Conclusion

We realize this is probably the shortest review we have ever done on the site, and we also imagine you’re not getting that much information from us when it comes to the third episode. Sadly, there is just not much more to tell. While we still in a way are curious where the series is headed, and hope this spiel between both characters actually ends up becoming meaningful, it was only the reveal at the end of the episode that still allowed us to give this episode a passing grade.
