Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
At last years E3 Moby Dick games showed off a trailer to their upcoming game titled Phantom Pain, except no one had ever heard of Moby Dick Games before. To get your games trailer onto the stage at E3 is something every developer wants, so how was it this unknown developer showed off a game no one had heard about?
Skip forward to today and Hideo Kojima mastermind behind the Metal Gears Solid franchise announced at his panel at GDC that the game Phantom Pain, is in fact Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and proceeded to show off the first trailer. The trailer uses footage from both The Phantom Pain trailer of last year and the trailer for MGS: Ground Zeroes, we don’t know what kind of relation the two games have or if they are in fact the same game.
The game uses Kojima’s Fox Engine which his team has built and touted for the last couple of years and the results show exactly why as the game looks amazing.
“First unveiled in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, the new Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain trailer shows the fall of Mother Base and provides visual hints that unveil the connection between Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. The trailer also showcases the FOX Engine’s exceptional level of visual quality with seamless integration of gameplay and cut scenes.”
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is set to grace both the 360 and PS3 though a date or even time frame has been given as to when, but I have to guess that it will come at the end of this year.
