New Ken Loach movie The Old Oak opens in cinemas this week
Ken Loach is well-known enough within the indie movie industry, always making somber but emotional tales with realistic themes and characters. His earlier works were received well, and this week his newest movie hopes to do the same. It’s called The Old Oak and has already premiered at the Cannes Festival and won the public award at Film Fest Gent. The Old Oak follows a small village in Northern England that slowly sees itself dying as the younger population moves to live in the city. When a camp of Syrian refugees is also arranged near the town, many older villagers are skeptical and weary. Until friendship blossoms and shows that we all are not too different as human beings after all. The Old Oak will be shown in cinemas around the world starting from October 25th.
