New trailer showcases origami-inspired A Tale of Paper

Sony Interactive Entertainment Spain and Open House Games have debuted a new trailer for A Tale of Paper. The indie-developed game was the winner of the V Playstation Talent Awards and will be released as a digital-only PS4 exclusive later this year. A Tale of Paper is an emotional adventure where a paper boy uses origami to fulfill the dream of its creator. The game mixes puzzles and platforming alongside some suspense and bits and pieces of walking sim. Despite what you’d expect at first glance, it’s not a 2D platformer. Although the camera cross laterally, players can roam the world in any direction.

Line, the aforementioned boy made of paper must use origami to overcome obstacles. The game puts a heavy emphasis on Line’s fragility and potential to overcome obstacles by limiting the actions he can make with a shape. As a frog, for example, he’s able to jump higher, but cannot walk or run. Another thing to note is that the game is a textless adventure. The story is told through the world and its objects. A Tale of Paper is set to launch later this year, although no formal release date has been announced yet.
