Portable document scanner ScanSnap iX100 announced

The ScanSnap iX100 is the lightest portable scanner for professional use. Of course, this professional document scanner can perfectly be used for personal use. The smart scanner can automatically switch to wireless connections with its built-in Wi-Fi connection. Furthermore, users can now scan documents and save these on smartphones, tablets, pc’s and Macs in no time. While it is the lightest smart scanner, it is also the fastest one in its class with a scanning speed of 5.2 seconds per page. The ScanSnap iX100 remains to be effective in whatever location you find yourself, whether it is at home, at the office or at college.

Mike Nelson, Vice President at PFU Imaging Solutions Europe Ltd., explains that “with more and more people working outside of the office environment, mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones have become standard equipment for most business people. Our ScanSnap iX100 is a tiny and highly reliable scanning partner that greatly enhances the efficiency of the mobile workforce.” Klaus Schulz, Manager Product Marketing EMEA at PFU Imaging Solutions Europe Ltd., further explains that “mobile workers can now capture documents, business cards or receipts via Wi-Fi without worrying about the Wi-Fi network environment or being tangled by the cables.”

Two new features that are implemented to reduce the scan time and to increase the efficiency of mobile users is the dual scan and automatically stitching a two-page document. All-in-all, this product seems more like a gadget for professionals but it does look incredible, even for home usage.
