Runic games releases GUTS
The title of this article might seem a bit weird, but I don’t mean their literal guts. GUTS is the name of the editor Runic games released today for their game Torchlight II.
GUTS is basically the development tool Runic themselves used to make the game. According to what they say, it will allow you to basically change just about anything about the game. From animations to items, to level layouts and much, much more. Mod support is something Runic promised would come to the game even before release, and is something that has been long awaited by the game’s community. Both the original Torchlight and the sequel have a very active modding scene, so it will be interesting to see what people will be able to do now that there’s an official tool out there. To accommodate for pre-GUTS mods Runic even built in support to convert those into official GUTS mods. On top of that they integrated steam workshop support to make the whole experience as seamless as possible.
For those of us not really into modding or mods, the update also bring a bunch of additional content for the standard game like additional map content, new pets, new weapons and armor sets, extra dungeons for the New Game Plus modes and a new type of portals that lead to the NetherRealm.
