Sandberg BossBlaster USB Headset – Hardware Review
It seems to be headset season, which comes in incredibly handy with how rainy the weather has been lately. We have reviewed several headsets lately, ranging from more affordable devices to absolute premium bangers. Even so, it’s incredibly hard to find the right headset in your price class, as some users may require a multiplatform experience, while others simply want to focus on the best audio quality that money can buy. Today, we’ll be looking at Sandberg’s BossBlaster USB Headset, which proved to be a ‘boss’ in its low-price category.
Design
Sandberg’s newest gaming headset sports a sober design. You’ll be treated to a matte solid black headset with not that many bells and whistles. The Sandberg logo is visible on the exterior of both ear cups, and there are of course the embedded LED lights in both ear cups as well. These only provide fairly subtle lighting, not lighting up the entire room when you’re gaming. We appreciated the dimmed lighting, as it gave the device a more premium appearance. The volume dial and microphone mute switch are embedded neatly into the left ear cup and don’t really stand out.
Compared to the HeroBlaster Wireless Headset, this one looks a bit more plastic-y and more solid as a result. The BossBlaster USB Headset has that vintage early 2000s gaming headset look, where things had heavier frames and looked a bit bulkier. That’s not to say that the BossBlaster is bulky, as it actually isn’t.
Comfort
The BossBlaster is a fairly comfortable device. You’ll have ample padding in the ear cups and the headband. The faux leather material is pleasant to the touch, and it’s easy to wipe down when it gets a bit greasy. However, you’ll have to do regular upkeep as the material can easily show smudges. The headset has a fairly tight grip due to the more solid frame. Even so, the overall feeling of getting squished is mitigated by the aforementioned padding. The BossBlaster is also an over-ear headset, making things even more comfortable, and it also drowns out outside noise. The plastic exterior of the headset itself is easy to clean.
Sadly, the device doesn’t have a detachable cable and microphone. This means that the headset is one solid piece, so when the cable breaks, it will be game over for this gaming peripheral. We would have loved to have a regular detachable cable. Luckily, the microphone arm is flexible, so it’s easy to move out of the way or reposition.

Overview
The BossBlaster USB Headset is a simple plug-and-play device that requires no additional software. You plug in the device, and you’ll be ready for your next gaming session or Discord call. With the two-meter cable length, you can move around comfortably. There truly aren’t that many functions the device offers, but you’ll have all the basics available with the volume dial in the left ear cup and the microphone mute switch placed right under the volume dial.
Keeping in mind that this is a budget-friendly headset, the device performs decently. You’ll be treated to clear audio when playing games, listening to music, and even when calling friends via Discord or other applications. When reviewing or trying out more affordable headsets, we often notice that the bass is underwhelming, but the BossBlaster performs reasonably well in this area. This is quite nice for when you’re an avid shooter fan or when playing through more cinematic games as well.
The microphone is of decent quality. The omnidirectional mic does pick up some environmental noises here and there, but it’s not bothersome when playing games with others in a Discord call or when using in-game voice chat. Those on the receiving end get clear audio feedback when you speak.
Conclusion
Sandberg’s BossBlaster USB Headset offers a lot of value for its extremely low RRP. You’ll notice that the device itself isn’t on par with some premium devices, but it also only comes in at a fraction of the price, and it provides a solid sound experience. You’ll be treated to crisp audio feedback, a comfortable companion for longer gaming sessions, and all the basic features you’ll need to have a good time. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly device, this one might just be it.
