After 10 seasons, you might think all of the demons are killed or everything is peaceful but you couldn’t be more wrong. Things are getting bad thanks to some tricky decisions and it seems that the two brothers can’t tackle this one on their own. At least they have their friends, like Castiel, and the weird bromance with Crowley. The question remains if this will be enough though.

After freeing Dean (Jensen Ackles) of the Mark of Cain, something was unleashed across the whole world. Leaving the bar, a dark fog spreads fast and even Dean and Sam (Jared Padalecki) can’t escape this doom, even when they’re hiding in the car. Thank goodness that the brothers are safe, although Dean seems to be gone from their hideout. After some searching, Sam finds his brother and it appears he had an encounter with the Darkness (Emily Swallow). This quite attractive woman protects our protagonist from the storm, while giving some intel on what she wants to achieve. After these events, it seems that something is amiss a nearby town. All of the sudden a weird virus is spreading, turning people into mad dogs. Dean and Sam find the young police officer Jenna Nickerson (Laci J. Mailey) and after some events, get to take care of baby Amara. After a while, it is clear that there is more than meets the eye. Castiel (Misha Collins) on the other hand, is still suffering from Rowena’s (Ruth Connell) curse, although he has his sane moments where he tries to find salvation. Crowley (Mark Sheppard) barely escaped with his life and wants to get revenge on this murder attempt. No need to worry though, as everything seems to fall together and all of the protagonists meet eventually, although this might not be a fun moment.

Supernatural: Season 11

Why change a winning combination? Even after 10 seasons, you can expect the same formula that has everyone hooked: standalone events, combined with an overall storyline. It is clear that they tried to give more meaning to the in-between cases, making more sense why they’re chasing a case instead of working on their major problems. This season of the series seemed more dynamic as well, as there seemed to be less car conversations. Don’t worry though, their in-depth psychological discussions still happen but the sad, emotional undertone can be felt in the complete season rather than in the later episodes. A lot of twisted events will occur, making everyone quite on edge.

Humor is also one of the key elements of the show and it has to be said, the comical and cynical lines and puns might be less present but they are certainly well found and will bring a smile on your face. It is certainly a way to lighten up the rather dark cases and to lift the depressed mood at times, which will occur quite often.

Supernatural: Season 11

If you forgot what happened in the previous watching session, no need to stress as you get a small overview at the start of each new episode. Also, these small flashbacks shows which characters you can expect in that specific scenario, which is great as you might figure what you can expect but it takes a bit of the excitement away as well.

Taking a look at the acting performances, Jensen and Jared are rocking it yet again. Their brotherly bond seems stronger than ever in this season and it can’t be easy to make all the emotional or more in-depth story elements feel so genuine and realistic, and boy oh boy these teary moments will be redundantly there. It seems that the side characters have suite some challenges to overcome. Misha seems to has lost his way and plays his part sublime. During the later episodes, his new role isn’t easy to perform but he aced it. Crowley on the other hand has some other challenges to overcome while his reign seems to get wobbly, while Rowena has her part in this story as well. The combination of all these marvellous performances really makes this a winning team.

Supernatural: Season 11

As from every season, you can expect some extras spread across the 6 different DVD’s. You can expect some deleted scenes, which might give you some insights on some of the occurred events, while there is also some extra information regarding one of the episodes that Jensen has directed. If that isn’t enough, the gag reel is available again, while some extra details regarding the Darkness are shown as well.  In the end, there is a lot of extra content for you to see and explore.

Conclusion

Supernatural season 11 might let you grab for a handkerchief now and then, as there are quite some emotional moments in the episodes. Although Dean is saved, the decision they’ve made has unleashed something far more worse. Even with the help of their friends, it could be that they’ve released a force that might be unstoppable.
