Terrorbytes is Pac-Man in reverse, and you can try it soon

Publisher Over the Moon (The Last Hero of Nostalgaia) and developer Treetop have announced their next title, Terrorbytes, a 4-player comedy-horror game. Drawing inspiration from Tron and Stranger Things, Terrorbytes follows four young friends who are pulled into a haunted arcade cabinet and must gather pellets for a distorted version of a retro arcade character, Ms. Croak-Man. In the game, a malevolent virus has corrupted everything, including the players. Instead of playing as the heroes, players take on the roles of the ghosts—the former villains—trying to escape Ms. Croak-Man. The objective is to survive long enough to uncover the source of the evil that has trapped them and find a way to escape.

Cooperation is a central mechanic in Terrorbytes. Players collect pellets to build up a shared energy pool, which is used for various actions. Every move, including sprinting, costs energy, requiring careful management to meet collection targets or to buy upgrades and items. Available items range from flashlights to power washers, along with map upgrades that provide useful tools like arrows, decoys, or the ability to broadcast voice to teammates. Players will need all the resources they can gather to face the threats in this arcade world, including skin-walkers, invisible stalkers, and other horrors. You can watch the announcement trailer for Terrorbytes below. Additionally, you’ll be able to try the game during Steam Next Fest starting on October 14th, with a demo that includes four playable characters with voiceovers, two stages, two equipable items, three safe-room upgrades, four enemy types, and one major boss.
