The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited Orsinium DLC – Review
The Orsinium DLC is the second DLC game pack for the well-appraised MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, available for Xbox One and PS4 consoles. This newest addition delivers a plethora of PvE content for all players, a new solo challenge and two new dungeons and thus the second DLC pack can be seen as a mini-expansion much like the first DLC, Imperial City.
While the Imperial City DLC was aimed towards the PvP players, the second game pack is aimed towards the explorers among us. The Orsinium DLC offers an extended narrative about the Orsimer, better known as the Orcs in The Elder Scrolls Online, introducing the region of Wrothgar situated in the northern part of Stormhaven. This large new zone focuses purely on both single player and small group PVE content and offers about twenty hours of additional content on top of the base game and the Imperial City DLC.
The newest DLC is named after the largest city in Wrothgar, namely Osinium, an ancestral capital in which all adventures are welcome as long as they want to live peacefully. We’ve come to understand that the city of Orsinium is one with a rich history and the once radiant city lies in ruins due to some unfortunate events some hundreds of years ago. However the Orcs have always prevailed. It is time to rebuild the city and the main questline of the second DLC is entire about the rebuilding of a once beautiful city. Noteworthy is that any faction, any class and any level can enter this region.
While you can play the new zone of Wrothgar with low level characters, it is ill-advised to do so. Characters of any level will be scaled to be able to fight the mobs but you’ll need a certain set of skills which won’t be available to the player until level 15 or higher. And although it is extremely difficult to survive two or more enemies in this new region as a lowbie, it is entirely possible to simply explore the area as the new zone offers a plethora of materials to gather. The replayability of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited has certainly been upped mostly due to the battle-scaling in this region as not only veterans can trudge through the mountains, casual players can now quest in an intriguing zone.
Aside from a large new questing zone, Orsinium also offers a break from the questline in the form of the Maelstrom Arena, a solo arena challenge in which you fight waves of enemies. Just like the region of Wrothgar, the arena has a battle-scaling system which means that lower-level players can do other things aside from questing and material grinding. Of course this newest addition is also a fine feature for veterans as it rewards the players with decent rewards, depending on how far you managed to get. The challenging aspect of the Maelstrom Arena will speak to both PvE and PvP players.
Unlike the Imperial City dungeons, the two new public dungeons Old Orsinium and Rkindaleft can be played solo once again as well as in a group of four. This brings back casual play, something we dearly missed in the Imperial City DLC. Naturally Orsinium also offers new item sets and provisioning recipes as well as a new crafting skill, the Ancient Orc style.
Once again the visuals of the new DLC seem to be on par with the general visuals ESO already had going for it, namely stunning sceneries with immense constructions.
Conclusion
The new content offers a steady and intriguing narrative, something that truly feels like an Elder Scrolls game. With the new region of Wrothgar and the challenging Maelstrom Arena, The Orsinium DLC game pack is much more accessible than its predecessor as the game pack features content for all types of players ranging from veteran to casual to sporadic players. If you have yet to buy a game pack for the base game, I would recommend the Orsinium DLC game pack as it not only offers a plethora of content, the new content also uses a battle-scaling system with the same kind of freedom the base game offers.
