Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark announced
Yes there’s going to be a new Transformers movie, we’ve known that for a while now. It’s called Transformers: Age of Extinction and it will appear in theatres in June this year. Today, though, Rise of the Dark Spark was announced as well, adding gameplay from the point where the big-screen entertainment ends.
So, yup, the game will start off where the motion picture will end, offering fourty playable characters from the franchise. According to the press release, players will be able to switch between Autobots and Decepticons at will, while gameplay will consist – and I paraphrase – “of the same combination of fast-paced running-and-gunning combat, made up of short and agile action, in addition to large-scale conflicts on dynamic and large battlefields.”
In short: expect the same gameplay both Transformers: War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron offered.
The single-player story will take players to multiple worlds, in a hunt for the Dark Spark, a relic that holds the same power as the Matrix of Leadership.
Multiplayer, then, will see a return of Escalation, where up to four players play in some sort of survival-mode. Both single-player and multiplayer should offer character progression that’s connected through both modes, while clearing content is supposed to unlock additional characters, weapons, skills and other goodies.
Both War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron where decent outings for the Transformers-universe, and while they didn’t offer much depth, they did manage to be quite entertaining, especially for Transformers fans. Let’s hope Rise of the Dark Spark takes it to the next level.
Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark will appear on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3,Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and PC.
