Super Hydorah is getting shape

Today we’re getting a first peek at Super Hydorah, a side scrolling shoot’em up game like they used to make them back in the days. These screenshots are bound to give the more senior gamers a very nostalgic feeling. Games that come to mind are Raptor: Call of the Shadow, Gradius, R-Type and Darius. With a basic story about our universe in danger, we got all the reasons we need to hop into our fighter and start shooting everything in our path. Just like in the classic games we can expect many different locations, weapons, upgrades and boss fights. As an added bonus a non linear story is promised, giving us just another excuse to replay the game and shoot things.

Here are some of the key features you can expect:

  • Old-school gameplay: easy to learn, hard to master
  • 16-32 bit era look and feel
  • 20 levels divided into 30 sublevels, 30 bosses and more than 70 enemies
  • 3 games modes: single player, co-op multiplayer and a robot control spin-off
  • Non-linear level layout with route selection
  • Dangers of different nature in each level (not just bullets)
  • Weapon selection menu, power ups and unlockable new weapons in every mission
  • Original soundtrack with 49 tracks
  • Secret objects and special heroic ending
  • Secrets, achievements and range system
  • CRT Monitor effect
