11 bit studios reveal Frostpunk 1886!
11 bit studios have revealed Frostpunk 1886, a brand-new title in the Frostpunk franchise set to release in 2027. The title refers to a key moment in the timeline of the universe as the Great Storm descended upon New London, the setting of the game, in 1886. During the making of this new project, players can enjoy Frostpunk 2, which is still going strong with free content updates, a console launch, and DLCs.
Frostpunk 1886 revisits and expands upon the city-builder and society survival experience of the original Frostpunk, but now fully reimagined in Unreal Engine. This doesn’t mean Frostpunk 1886 will only bring better visuals, but it also builds upon the core of the original game, adding new content, mechanics, laws, and a completely new Purpose path. Because of Unreal Engine, the game becomes a living, expandable platform, enabling mod support and future DLC content.
The title is the beginning of a new era for 11 bit studios as they will focus on in-house projects now more than ever before. More details will be revealed in the months ahead. In the future, players will be able to experience both Frostpunk 2 and Frostpunk 1886 simultaneously.
