Flashback HD
If you have fond memories of the cult classic Flashback, or Flashback: The Quest for Identity if you’re from the US, that was released in 1993 on the Genesis, Snes, and DOS I have some good news for you.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the side-scrolling richly animated game, and to celebrate Ubisoft is setting out to release an HD remake onto the Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network.
You won’t be getting an uprezzed version of the game, the game is making the jump to 3D via the Unreal engine. The game will look familiar to anyone that has played Shadow Complex on XBLA, thanks to the Unreal engine that powers both games. If you’re worried about the fact that its making the jump to a new engine, and whether or not it will stay true to the original games aesthetic and gameplay, don’t.
The remake is being headed up by VectorCell, which was formed by Flashbacks creator Paul Cuisset. That should help put your mind at ease about where the remake is coming from.
No release date was given besides the ever helpful, ‘coming soon’.
