An old-school anime comes to live in Space Adventure Cobra – The Awakening
The chances that you’ve heard of it are pretty small, but Cobra is a manga from the late 70s by author Buichi Terasawa. In the 80s, an anime adaptation was made, but beyond that, the show that embraces campy science fiction vibes seems to be a niche franchise at best in the west, even if it got reasonably popular over in Japan. Space Adventure Cobra – The Awakening is thus the first time the anime gets a further adaptation. Established developer Microids is bringing the world to life through an action-platformer with lovely retro graphics and modern gameplay. It definitely looks like a fun mix, as the trailer below can show you. Space Adventure Cobra – The Awakening will be available on August 26, 2025, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC. A Gold Edition with DLC content and a Deluxe Edition with that same DLC, a digital art book, and a digital soundtrack, will also be available for those interested.
