Bloober Team debuts first gameplay trailer for Cronos: The New Dawn!
Bloober Team reveals the first full gameplay trailer of its new survival horror game, Cronos: The New Dawn, which first got showcased in March. Time travel takes the spotlight as the game is set across two time periods: a post-apocalyptic future and the 1980s. It takes place in a district called New Dawn, which is based on real-life Nowa Huta in Poland. In Cronos: The New Dawn, you’ll play as Traveller, an agent of the mysterious Collective. Traveller comes from a dystopian future and goes back in time to extract important people from their timeline before they perish in the apocalypse. During your journey, you’ll encounter Orphans. Orphans are twisted, body-horror monstrosities born out of people’s darkest nightmares, and these are your enemies in this game. But they’re no ordinary enemies.
In the new gameplay trailer, a new mechanic is shown that will change how players confront their enemies. This mechanic is called “The Merge” and basically means that supposedly killed enemies don’t stay dead for long. If you don’t burn their bodies quickly, they will be absorbed by existing enemies. Through the Merging process, these enemies turn into more enhanced versions of themselves, but they also become even more horrifying.
The trailer also features other aspects of the game, like new weapons, enemies, and even a peek at new characters. In addition to these features, the game’s soundtrack is teased, created by award-winning composer Arkadiusz Reikowski. Reikowksi collaborated with the Polish-Ukrainian indie folk band Zazula to create this track. It features haunting traditional vocals that create an atmosphere of horror mixed with surrealism.
Cronos: The New Dawn will release later this year on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC via Steam. You can now wishlist the game on Steam if you want to receive updates.
