Broken Bots coming to Beta soon!

From Belgium-based developer Bunnycopter comes Broken Bots: an online multiplayer top-down arcade shooter. Multiple teams have to battle it out on dangerous grounds in order to gain control over the battlefield. Veflow and I have gotten a chance to play Broken Bots for a short while in the Capture-the-flag mode.

In Broken Bots, the bots are not necessarily broken when you start playing them. In fact, these bots work perfectly fine until one of your enemies uses various skills that can cause your bot to malfunction. Luckily for you, these malfunctions can be both positive and negative. Negative malfunctions can be reversed controls and aiming and reduced movement speed. While I understand the concept of reversed controls and aiming if your bot malfunctions, it certainly worked on my nerves as these felt more like glitches in the game. The more positive effects can be anything from increased speed to an increased fire rate to a wider bullet spread. Not only will the game feature a Capture-the-Flag mode. Over time modes such as King of the Hill and Team Deathmatch will be added.

While the graphics will not be appealing to young adolescents, those that have spend their time in arcade halls will absolutely love the retro-styled visuals. The arenas in which you play look quite basic, but the game is so fast-paced that you won’t spend a great deal looking at the scenery. Just look out for the water, the bots don’t like water!

Right now, Broken Bots is still in alpha however later this month a beta will be released. Expect a preview on our website! Later on, the game will be available for PC, Mac and Linux.
