Camera Projection for Silence – The Whispered World 2

Daedalic Entertainment constantly uses new techniques to make their games better and this can be seen in their upcoming title Silence – The Wispered World 2. Silence is a traditional-style point and click adventure game. Earlier it was said that Daedalic was pursuing new ways of adventure game design while exploring the possibilities that modern adventure gaming offers nowadays. Today they show us that, for the first time ever in their games, they are using a camera projection technique to create the world that is Silence The Whispered World 2.

The idea behind it all is to capture the spirit and atmosphere of the first game, which was 2D and transform these artworks into a stunning 3D setting for the second game in The Whispered World series. As you can see in the video below, this process is quite complex and requires a great deal of detailed work. With this new technique they will be able to pull the player deeper into the story during tracking shots and cutscenes as special effects such as the changing nature can be implemented much easier, unlike the hand drawn pictures from the previous installment.

Silence – The Whispered World 2 is scheduled for release early 2015 for PC and Mac, this should give you enough time to play the first game in case you haven’t gotten around to it yet.
