Cooks, get your chef gear on and gather your utensils with this simulation game. You can persuade a career in a renowned tower full of restaurants and dining possibilities, where you have to do everything you can imagine. Are you ready to dive into the cooking pots and serve some delicious food? Don’t forget about some unexpected visitors though.

Story

Although it would be nice to have a real story, there isn’t one added. The campaign will lead you to several different establishments in the Teragon Supertower, where you can show off your amazing cooking skills. At the beginning, there is only one place you can go to but these will grow eventually by increasing your level. The better you serve your customers, the faster it’ll increase, so be sure to keep them happy!

It would have been nice if there was something more story-related attached as well, but at least you can enjoy the stress -errh- fun of getting everything nice and ready on time before getting pissed-off people.

Graphics

Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!! has rather fun graphics. The customers and the different types of restaurants are in a more comical style while the food is a bit more lifelike. It is really cool to see the dish grow by adding extras to the pot, as if you’re really making something. These elements make the game so colourful that it is obvious you get happy in an instant.

Next to the fun of cooking, there are also some other necessities you have to tackle. These actually bring some ‘darkness’ to the game and balances it all out rather nicely. The developer also added the opportunity to design your own restaurant with the items you obtain by levelling. This gives it a nice extra touch.

Sound

Although the background music is a bit pale in comparison to the graphics, it’s comparable to the music you mostly hear while enjoying some nice lunch or dinner. It won’t distract you too much from your work and that is a good thing, as you have more than enough on your plate.

The most amusing aspects are the sound effects, which really make everything so much better. Every little detail is guided by some sounds, each a bit funnier than the other. Expect some sizzling, cutting, trash-smashing, toilet-rubbing effects. The combination of both gives you that bustling feeling and will fuel your drive.

Gameplay

Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!! is a simulation game where you have to manage your restaurant and make customers happy by serving hot piping food with some amazing flavour. In the campaign mode you can choose between several different styles and establishments, where you can start a certain level. The better you get, the more levels appear. These have predefined types of food you have to make, so you will have to learn new stuff almost every time you dive into the kitchen.

Some of the recipes have some variations, which makes everything a bit more difficult. For instance, selecting beef instead of pork won’t make the customer happy so you have to invest time to make everything correct. Of course, people hate waiting and their patience doesn’t last forever, so if they’re in the line too long they will eventually leave and you will get less new clients. It would have been easier if everyone came in at a certain pace, but there are two rush hours you have to keep in mind. At this time of day, you will have a queue and when you finish an order there is already someone new to fill that spot. Good business of course, but it tends to drown you and the stress level will rise without a doubt. To make people happy, you can prepare some side menus so they can get a snack when leaving. This increases happiness a lot and will help you get to your goal faster. Depending if some of the customers were unhappy or mad about their order, you will obtain only a bronze or silver medal at the end of a shift. This is just something small, but might drive you to do everything as perfect as possible.

Of course, it would have been nice if you could mainly focus on cooking but less is true. You will have to deal with several other tasks, like toilet issues or cleaning the plates while there are some vermin you have to take care of as well like rats and roaches. Not a pleasant job but if you neglect these, your fame will drop down faster than you can imagine.

All of these elements will help you gain experience and even stars. When levelling up, you can get new levels to tackle and acquire furniture for your own restaurant. You can design it however you please, which is rather fun to do. Even more, you can take a look at all of the recipes that are available in the catalogue, where you can try them out or buy them. This will increase your abilities to make food faster so you have less stress when rush hours kicks in.

Local co-op was added as well, so you can tackle the game split-screen and work in the kitchen together. No need to worry though, as people can drop out or enter as they please. This might actually help you a lot or it might give you the opposite effect, namely that your buddy does some things that really ruins your plans. At any rate, you’ll have fun!

Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!!

Conclusion

If you like simulation games where you have to prepare food and you like to feel the adrenaline flowing, then Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!! is something worth checking out. The graphics will make your mouth water, while the sounds are just the icing on the cake. The gameplay itself might give you stress at times, especially with the rush hours, but it’s rather fulfilling to have crunched through yet another shift.
