Flames of Retribution lights up Age of Darkness: Final Stand this month
PlaySide Studios’ award-winning survival real-time strategy game, Age of Darkness: Final Stand, is set to release its biggest update ever, Flames of Retribution, on 19th April. The update will include the first seven of ten fully voiced campaign chapters, a new hero named Merek, and a range of new updates. The game, set in a dark fantasy world, features SwarmTech technology that enables the game to render up to 70,000 models on screen at once and procedurally generated maps and randomized rewards. Players will take on the role of the Protectors of the Light as they make a last attempt to hold back the unrelenting hordes of Nightmares, monstrous creatures that lurk in the fog of war known as “The Veil.”
The new hero, Merek Longhold, also known as “The Bolstering Might,” is an imposing figure on and off the battlefield. Despite presenting himself as a paragon of law and order, Merek has been known to demonstrate some moral flexibility when it benefits his desires and coin purse. Flames of Retribution follows two previously released content updates during Early Access, each bringing new production units and heroes to the battlefield: Queen’s Fury in November 2021 and Rebellion’s Rise in December 2022. Age of Darkness: Final Stand is a challenging and immersive survival RTS game that has been critically acclaimed since its launch into Steam Early Access in October 2021.
