Jagged Alliance 3 is aiming to be a worthy successor

Many games that we grew up with are now seeing either remakes or remasters, while others get an entire reboot of the franchise. This doesn’t always work out as intended. You might remember the botched launch of Saints Row that could have ruined the franchise forever. That is why when developer Haemimont Games announced that they will be making a successor to the legendary Jagged Alliance franchise, the fans mentioned one big wish: Don’t f*** it up! Making such a game will be like a tightrope walk to make sure that it feels similar to the old games while bringing new improvements to the table. Luckily they have help from Ian Currie, the designer and responsible person for the original concept of the Jagged Alliance franchise.

In the past, we saw the franchise being brought into the new era with Jagged Alliance Online, Jagged Alliance: Flashback and Jagged Alliance: Rage. This time around it retains the classic elements such as the beloved characters in a huge world with diverse side-quests, tactical combat and strategic campaign management. The game will take place in Grand Chien, a nation with rich natural resources and a deep political divide. When the president is kidnapped and the nation is overthrown by a paramilitary group called “The Legion” it is up to the president’s family to find and hire a small group of skilled mercenaries to find and rescue the president. You get to play as different mercenaries, each with their own unique personality and backstory while meeting new people, earning money and growing your war stash.  Ultimately you will decide the fate of Grand Chien, will you save the president or will you be the next glorious leader?

Key features include:

  • Engage in rich, tactical turn-based combat
  • Recruit from a large cast of unique mercenaries, including many familiar fan favorites
  • Loot, salvage, and customize an arsenal of weaponry and equipment
  • Choose from a wide array of special perks to customize your mercs as they level up
  • Decide the fate of Grand Chien in an open RPG structure
  • Control territory, train the locals, command multiple parties, and defend against enemy forces in an alive, active world
  • Experience the campaign with friends in online co-op mode

Jagged Alliance 3 is planned to be released in 2023 for PC through Steam.
