Microsoft announces its takeover of ZeniMax Media and Bethesda Softworks
7.5 billion dollars is not a meager sum, but it’s how much Microsoft spent on buying a piece of video game history. Microsoft has bought ZeniMax Media, which is the mother company to Bethesda Softworks, who in turn is famous for staples such as the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series. This acquisition takes the grand total of creative studios owned by Microsoft from 15 to 23 and will allow them to add a lot of new games to their Xbox Game Pass, both now and in the future. Of course, Microsoft will also be investing money and resources into further Bethesda projects, which means even more opportunities to make groundbreaking games are down in the cards for this renowned studio.
