NACON and KT Racing look at what’s on the horizon for Solar Crown
In the lead-up to the launch of Season 4 of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown tomorrow, July 23rd, NACON and KT Racing have released their first in-house developer diary video. Hosted by Racing Content Manager Alexander Arthur, aka Alex VII, the video offers a detailed overview of new content for Season 4 while also providing a glimpse of what players can expect in Year 2 and beyond. The latest season introduces several new features, including the long-awaited Casino, where players can bet in-game currency on slot machines and, later in the season, poker games to win exclusive prizes like a new car and cosmetic items. Other additions include Stock Races—limited to factory-spec vehicles—the Active Aero handling feature, five new cars, a customisable HUD, and a GPS Group Ping tool. Players can also access new circuits through the Solar Pass, with premium content available using a new currency called Diamonds. The Solar Pass remains free for owners of the Gold and Silver editions, with Gold users receiving 20 bonus levels. Season 4 marks the conclusion of the game’s first year of post-launch content.
Looking ahead, Year 2 of TDUSC, which begins in October 2025, promises even more player-requested content, including taxi missions, user-voted mission types, PvP-focused race centres, and the return of player housing. A major engine upgrade will also improve performance and visuals, while ongoing efforts continue around economic balancing and platform optimisation. Players can currently vote on a new mission type—Detective, Delivery, Photography, or Adrenaline—until August 4. Future seasons will expand multiplayer functionality and social features, with Season 7 introducing official race centres in Hong Kong and Ibiza and Season 8 bringing back the beloved real estate system, alongside Extreme missions and a new Passenger mode. All seasons, with the exception of Solar Pass-exclusive content, remain free for all players. Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, a massively open online racer, is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
