Quake 2 drops an enhanced version

When people think about classic first-person shooters, one of their go-to games is Quake 2. Now this classic can be enjoyed in all its glory with an enhanced release for Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and PS5. Enjoy all the original content, some new extras, and a whole bunch of upgrades today.
The enhanced edition of Quake 2 contains its original two campaigns, The Reckoning and Ground Zero, which offer 23 campaign levels and a total of 21 deathmatch maps. Along with these classics is a brand new expansion called Call of the Machines. Fight your way through time and space to destroy the Trogg-Maker, a machine that can alter the fabric of the universe to change the life of mankind and machines forever. This expansion adds another 28 campaign levels and a multiplayer map.
All of this can be enjoyed with a bunch of upgrades, like 4k support and enhanced AI. The looks of the game have had an overhaul with updated models, cinematics, and most importantly: gore. All of this can be enjoyed with online and local multiplayer. Jump into local games with eight players thanks to split-screen, or enjoy big online matches with 16 players. You can bring all of your friends thanks to cross-play to eliminate players from all platforms. Can’t get enough of the Quake 2 goodness? Then be sure to check out the vinyl soundtrack when it releases later this year.
