Return to Simon the Sorcerer’s roots in a new prequel, out now!
Today marks the release of Simon the Sorcerer: Origins, a prequel to the long-running adventure series Simon the Sorcerer. Set just weeks before the events of the original game, Origins takes players back to the magical world that first captivated audiences in 1993. In this story, Simon is drawn into a wizarding world shaped by an ancient prophecy, embarking on a journey filled with discovery, humor, and self-aware wit. Fans of the series will find familiar touches alongside new elements, including hand-drawn visuals that evoke the classic ’90s style while introducing cinematic sequences and a vibrant, cartoon-inspired aesthetic. The soundtrack, composed by Mason Fischer, complements the whimsical tone of Simon’s world, and the game features original voice actors Chris Barrie (English) and Erik Borner (German) returning to bring the character to life. Special mention should be given to a musical appearance by none other than the legendary Rick Astley.
The game is being published by ININ Games and was developed by Smallthing Studios. The release of Origins is accompanied by a new launch trailer, which you can view below. Standard editions are available for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, with digital and retail versions accessible across all major platforms, including PlayStation 4, Xbox, and PC. A Limited Special Edition has also been released for Switch, PC, and PS5.
